Le Somail: a former “couchée” or stopover, built by Pierre-Paul Riquet, is one of the most outstanding sites on the Canal du Midi cycle route. With its harbour, chapel, incredible second-hand bookshop and its canal-side accommodation, it's a picture-postcard village with an atmosphere that will make you want to stay a while.
