The Corbières appellation is mostly located between the sea and lagoons on the Côte du Midi. As you pass through the picturesque villages of Bages and Peyriac de Mer on the edge of the lagoon, you are invited to relax between walks with some wine tasting. After Sigean, the so-called "maritime" Corbières continues south along the coastline and the fine sandy beaches of Port-La Nouvelle to La Palme.
This appellation also extends to the west of Narbonne, to the inland area predominated by scrubland. A more present relief revealing "Pech" (small mountains) at whose feet there are several wine estates including the majestic Fontfroide Abbey. This route offers you a selection of ten wine estates.
Created in 1985, this is the largest wine production area in the Languedoc and the fourth largest in France. These days, the Corbières appellation is primarily focused on organic vineyard management. Corbières winegrowers are committed to conserving nature through a clearly defined pact. They are encouraging conversion to 100% organic vineyards based on sustainable agriculture!

Carignan is the most common grape variety. The red wines of Corbières will charm you with their aromas of ripe, fleshy and warm fruits. They will warm up your autumn and winter evenings. The white and rosé wines, fruity and aromatic, bring spring picnics and summer grills alive.

This wine route runs through the Corbières, located further inland to the west of Narbonne, to reach the Corbières Maritimes on the coast.
Start your wine route at the Massif de Fontfroide at the gateway to the High Corbières. Then continue south, towards the village of Bages. Once in Bages drive towards Peyriac de Mer on the D105 through the lagoons. When you reach Peyriac de Mer, enjoy a stroll on the pontoons. Continue south-west towards Portel-des-Corbières, a road surrounded by scrubland. Return to the south towards La Palme with views of the lagoons.
